Job Description
As Head of FSD Portfolio Management, you will play a central role in shaping and driving the strategic development of METRO’s international Food Service Distribution (FSD) business. In this highly impactful position, you will:
Advise and support FSD top management in strategy development, translating strategic priorities into actionable initiatives and leading their execution.
Steer the performance of selected FSD companies through regular reviews, datadriven insights, and targeted improvement measures to enhance financial and operational results.
Prepare and guide the management of FSD companies through major investment decisions (e.g., warehouse expansions, IT infrastructure upgrades), ensuring sound business case development and execution readiness.
Foster best practice and knowledge sharing across the FSD portfolio and between FSD companies and METRO central functions, supporting the ONE METRO approach.
Identify, quantify, and drive synergy opportunities across the FSD portfolio, promoting integrated ways of working and operational excellence.
Contribute to FSD-related M&A projects, including the commercial due diligence of target companies, synergy assessments, and post transaction integration planning.
Provide expert commercial input for valuation models (e.g., DCF) together with internal stakeholders.
Lead post-merger integration of acquired FSD companies, coordinating functional workstreams and ensuring synergy realization.
Advance the digital transformation of FSD companies by supporting the optimization of key processes, tools, and performance management frameworks.
Establish and manage interfaces between assigned FSD companies, METRO Corporate Functions, and peer FSD units to ensure alignment and adherence to METRO standards and guidelines.
Prepare and present project updates and strategic insights to senior stakeholders, including the METRO AG Board.
Qualifications
- 4–6 years of experience in dynamic and fast‑paced environments—such as strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate strategy, M&A, or top-tier management trainee programs.
- Outstanding academic record (top 10%), ideally in business administration, economics, finance, or a related field.
- Proven experience in strategy development, strategic planning, and implementation of complex initiatives.
- Demonstrated success in managing cross‑functional and international projects, including senior‑level stakeholder engagement.
- Strong understanding of financial statements and value drivers, with solid commercial acumen and the ability to assess business models in the FSD space.
- Highly independent, proactive, and results‑oriented working style with strong problem‑solving capabilities.
- Excellent relationship‑building skills grounded in transparency, reliability, and trust; confident in engaging with C‑level stakeholders.
- Strong communication and presentation abilities, capable of conveying complex topics in a clear and compelling manner.
- Innovative, improvement‑driven mindset with the ability to challenge the status quo and advocate for new ways of working.
- Advanced proficiency in Microsoft Office and experience with AI prompting tools.
- Knowledge of the foodservice industry is an asset.
