Team Lead Data Governance (all genders)



Job Description
To lead and develop the Data Governance and Master Data Management function, ensuring high-quality, standardized, compliant, and business-driven master data across Supply Chain processes. The role is responsible for driving data governance frameworks, leading the Master Data team, enabling operational and managerial reporting, and supporting data-driven decision-making through business analytics.
The Team Lead Data Governance acts as the key liaison between Supply Chain, Procurement, Commercial, Finance, Operations, and IT functions to maximize the value of enterprise data assets, improve data quality, and support digital transformation initiatives through governance, analytics, and reporting solutions.
- Own and maintain the Data Governance framework, policies, standards, and procedures across Supply Chain operations.
- Define and manage master data ownership, stewardship, accountability models, and governance structures.
- Ensure compliance with internal data standards, regulatory requirements, and business rules.
- Lead data quality management initiatives, including monitoring, controls, root-cause analysis, and corrective action plans.
- Drive standardization and harmonization of master data across systems, business units, and countries.
- Govern supplier, customer, article, logistics, and operational master data lifecycle processes.
- Identify risks related to data quality, integrity, and process compliance and implement mitigation measures.
- Lead data cleansing, migration, and system implementation activities related to master data domains.
- Act as key escalation point for complex data governance and master data issues.
Business Analytics & Reporting
- Own the development and delivery of operational, tactical, and managerial reporting solutions.
- Design, implement, and continuously improve KPI frameworks and performance dashboards.
- Translate business requirements into meaningful insights and decision-support tools.
- Support management with data-driven recommendations and trend analysis.
- Drive reporting automation and standardization initiatives to improve efficiency and transparency.
- Ensure consistency, reliability, and accuracy of business reporting outputs.
- Conduct business performance analysis across Supply Chain operations and identify optimization opportunities.
- Establish and monitor data quality and governance KPIs.
People Management & Leadership
- Lead, coach, and develop the Master Data team, including Experts and Specialists.
- Set team objectives, priorities, and performance expectations aligned with business goals.
- Conduct performance management, development planning, and regular feedback discussions.
- Foster a culture of accountability, continuous improvement, collaboration, and customer orientation.
- Manage resource allocation and workload balancing within the team.
Data & Analytics Platforms
- Administer and continuously improve reporting and analytics solutions using: Google Looker & Strategy (formerly MicroStrategy).
- Design and maintain dashboards, scorecards, self-service reporting tools, and analytical models.
- Collaborate with IT and business stakeholders to enhance reporting architecture and data availability.
- Support data integration initiatives between ERP, reporting, and analytics platforms.
- Ensure effective data modeling and reporting performance optimization.
Digital Transformation & Continuous Improvement
- Lead initiatives that improve data governance maturity and analytical capabilities.
- Participate in business transformation projects, ERP implementations, and process optimization programs.
- Support adoption of modern data management, reporting, and analytics technologies.
- Drive automation opportunities within master data and reporting processes.
- Serve as subject matter expert for data governance, analytics, and reporting best practices.
Stakeholder Management
- Act as primary contact for Data Governance topics across Supply Chain and supporting functions.
- Collaborate closely with Commercial, Finance, Tax, Logistics, Customs, Operations, and IT teams.
- Facilitate governance forums, data quality reviews, and stakeholder workshops.
- Provide recommendations and support decision-making at management level.
- Communicate data governance priorities, risks, and performance results to leadership teams.
Qualifications
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in Business Analytics, Supply Chain Data Management, Data Governance or Master Data Management.
- Proven leadership experience managing teams and driving organizational improvements.
- Strong experience with business intelligence and reporting platforms, particularly Google Looker and Strategy.
- Advanced knowledge of ERP systems such as Microsoft D365 and SAP.
- Supply Chain, Logistics, Procurement, or Data Management background.
- Experience leading data quality, governance, reporting, or transformation initiatives.
- Excellent English communication skills; German and/or additional European languages preferred.
- Demonstrated ability to work independently, influence stakeholders, and deliver measurable business improvements.
- Strong customer-focused, proactive, and results-oriented leadership style.
